The Wisdom of A. Rud Mills

A. Rud Mills is considered by many to be the father of modern Odinism. In the 1930's this far-sighted Australian began writing and organizing with the aim of spearheading a resurgence of our Aryan folk-religion to counter the all-around stagnation and distortion wreaked by Christianity, materialism and other alien-spawned maladies.

For over twenty years Mills militated for an Odinist renaissance; and we honor his memory today as we carry on the struggle to bring the enlightenment of folk-consciousness to our misguided kinsmen.

The following excerpts are from Mills' writings of the mid-1930's; we feel they aptly demonstrate the perceptiveness and profundity of this great Odinist:

If one species or tribe is taught by someone that the spirit of their tribe is evil and doomed, that as a result they are themselves evil, that their customs and traditions are evil, and that another tribe is a Chosen tribe selected by a higher power and is nearer the truth and nearer God; and if further, the first tribe is brought to believe what they are taught, or even if they forget their own spirit and their Lord (either by persuasion, threats or appeals to pity or jealousy, or all of these), then they, with their new ideals, will forsake customs, outlook and traditions which are their own, will reverence the alien spirit, will be untrue to the spirit of their race, and will become weak, unwholesome, and will be ruled or devoured by the representatives of the other alien spirit, and in any case die.

The main theme of Christianity assumes a God aloof from the world (sometimes even loathing and hating the world), and mankind as miserable sinners with no health in them and doomed to death without the mediation of one whom some believe to be the Immeasurable God's only begotten son and the faithful acceptance of this doctrine of self-renunciation and condemnation of the sensible world.

Christianity teaches, by implication and directly, that men are the product of bottomless evil, that they are themselves evil, their bodies are vile, their instincts are evil, their physical experiences are lying, this world is a snare and a delusion, that their very yearnings for God are evil or worthless unless they believe and accept the said Christian teaching with its self-renunciation direction, and worship Jesus as God or the Only Begotten Son of God; that until that belief is held and that acceptance is given, God is malevolent and 'repents Him of ever creating man'.

Gross materialism and parasitism is seen to flourish (as it must) with the Christian outlook prevailing in our midst.

Christianity as an ideal leads toward a chaos or to a so-called Bolshevistic-Communism with its materialism, and government by the Jews of all Christian countries.

Our fathers and our loves, of whom we are, and who are near us, and our own holy places have been hidden from us, and in their place the doubtful heroes of Jewry and Jewish holy places are continually held up before us as we seek God; and the Bible, a book containing writings collected from various sources, many of them Aryan, altered by Jewish writers, often confused and contradictory in their statements, is placed before us as an infallible guide for man, and as the spoken or inspired word of the Immeasurable God.

Our fathers and our loves have often been maligned and their writings destroyed, to the detriment of truth and the furthering of Jewish-Christian culture among us.

The Jewish-Christian influence has in all nations where introduced, tended in time, to destroy the identity of individual, and the phases of national life which constitute the nation and the culture resting on and arising from those identities and phases.

Societies, for instance Freemasonry, have arisen from or have been seriously affected by reason of the pervading Jewish culture, which war against our national and racial identity, to the holding up of the Jewish race and their racial traditions, and the Jewish racial spirit (namely Jehovah), and the denial of our own.

The Jews logically must become rulers over all Christian nations as a result of Christian teaching. The Jews are not our own people, nor of our own people, nor of the spirit of a people near the spirit of our people; nor are the Jews the most admirable race in the world, which fact has been observed by many able men.

Jesus, Spinoza and Marx show in their philosophies racial characteristics much in common, for instance -- sounding promises, exhortations to opposing attitudes, denial of differences: themes that cancel out each other, and any one of which when applied to the truth of Reality produces chaos for the devotee.

In our newspapers, colleges, wireless, news-services (even when not directly controlled by Jews), and public utterances, the word 'Jew' is only spoken with circumspection; in fact anything which appears like noticing race or breed in humanity is almost 'taboo' or 'bad form' under the Christian culture, as though race and breeding (except for horses, cattle, dogs and vegetables) were not an important fact of Reality, or were of no importance at all, or were a sign of danger and viciousness.

Some of our people name their children with the names of Jews and Jewesses in preference to names of their own people.

The worship of trading, the worship of tokens of exchange, that is, money, outside and beyond its proper use, will impoverish and destroy the functioning phases of the community.

Usury or interest should not be charged or paid as a principle, but only in cases specially provided for by the law made by patriotic and just men. No nation can approve the principle of usury and continue to live as a society.

Every man should be satisfied without interest or usury, when his money is kept safely. The Odinist in this as in all matters gains guidance from his best observations of the truth of things.

Each nation and each person lives best by being true to itself and the spirit of itself on toward the variable limit for good of itself and its power.

The nature of Equality as an ideal partakes of the nature of dying; because the principle of equality destroys family life as surely as it does national; and because the equality idea, with its denial of differences, destroys men as men and women as women.

A lie is in its final examination a form of death in time.

There has been inherent in our prevailing religion a denial of differences and a spurning of the teaching of the instinct and well-tried experience.

The careful breeding and selection of horses, cattle, sheep and other animals is accepted by all to be of high importance, yet under our Jewish-Christian culture we are taught that the breeding and selection of human beings is of no importance at all, that all human beings are of equal value.

Men sometimes ask too much of the immediate sensible world to the detriment of their sanity and to the detriment of their performing their trust on earth, to their grave loss; a degree of pain and some self-denial are necessary to the finding of the self, to personal clarity (national and individual), and unclouded instinct is the best guide to this as to other paths of light.

All the varieties of life are expressions of various powers or combinations and exclusions, in more or less degree, of certain powers and sub-powers in Reality, which powers and sub-powers are in themselves vital and differential from one another although recognizing each other and their places and living in the General Way.

The condemnation of life on earth as such, has made it part of our culture to regard sex as an evil, a not-to-be-mentioned evil, because it is as persistent and close to our natures and the self; a healthy impulse has degenerated and become distorted into sensuality and marital infidelity, which sap the virtue and healthful vitality of our social and national life; and the value of women and their gard in the nation has become debased to our grievous hurt - infidelity among our early fathers was scarcely known.

A man who strives or worries or frets about matters beyond the control and sphere of man does injury to himself and his connections.
There is an aspect of peace which is akin to and leads to death, because total peace is not the concomitant of life but of death.
The discovery of one avenue of light is the way to another, and because all such avenues of light tend to join into one grand avenue.
In nature, it is an expression of the Great One that like draws near to like to produce life.
The Odinist never need tell a lie for his religion.
Within common everyday things are paths to and of eternity.
